Long my life has been. And many tales have reached my ears. Of those a few I have collected here for everyone to read.

Some of them do describe events happening in the dark times of the very beginning of Illarion. Great magic you will find there, which has long been lost to us. The life of legendary heroes and heroines are described and their deeds still fill me with wonder.

And there are some other tales of a more present origin and a few of them have touched my life as if I myself would have been part of the events. Some of them do give me great joy and others great pain. As life itself creates mysteries and the human soul has no choice but to accept its direction.

Some people will say that to burden yourself with things long gone has no purpose. But is that truly so? Our ancestors stood on the threshold between good and evil, life and death, love and hate. Do we not stand at the same spot they already had been?

They made decisions on behalf of the limited view they had at that time. And they were forced to live with the consequences arising from their choices. But we instead have the possibility to value their decisions, to reflect the consequences and in doing so, recognize the mistakes they made. In knowing the past we are able to form our future. In knowing my roots I am able to stay firm on the ground of the present soil.
